Whether you’re a lowcountry local or are just visiting our fair city for the summer, there’s no shortage of fun things to do in Charleston! We have amazing restaurants, breweries, shopping, culture, and the beautiful Atlantic Ocean, of course. But that’s not all! Check out a few family-friendly Charleston activities you may not know about.
Walk one of our famous (or not-so-famous) bridges.
The Arthur Ravenel Jr. bridge (also known as the Cooper River Bridge) is a local icon, but it’s also got a killer view of the Charleston harbor and scenic wetlands. If you’re going to walk the bridge, be sure to wear good shoes and sunscreen. Or, if you’re not up for quite as much of a hike, check out the Pitt Street Bridge Park in Mount Pleasant for gorgeous waterfront views.
Get in touch with your artistic side.
The Gibbes Museum is a local gem featuring one of the largest collections of fine art in the south. With events and activities for kids and adults, you’re sure to find something that delights and inspires you in the museum’s art-studded (and blessedly air-conditioned) halls.
Live it up at Charleston Fun Park.
Charleston Fun Park has something for everyone, from outdoor activities like go karts and one of Charleston’s best putt putt courses, to indoor activities like bumper cars, a virtual reality arena, mini bowling, and so much more. Check out our summer hours to plan your visit and get ready for some of the best family fun in Charleston!
